A Sweet Legacy: BeeFree and its Honey

Historic Honey Farm

At BeeFree, we’re committed to partnering with like-minded companies who share our values of quality, sustainability, and ethical practices. That’s why we’re so thrilled to have found a wonderful family-owned honey source—a business that truly exemplifies these principles in every drop of honey they provide.

Honey, of course,  is a key ingredient for all of our BeeFree products. It gives our Warrior Snack Mixes and Mini Bars that delicious touch of sweetness that keeps you coming back for more. But you might be surprised to learn that finding a source for organic, non-GMO honey is no easy task!

Organic honey is made from the nectar of plants that are grown without synthetic chemicals or fertilizers and is free from added artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, or other ingredients. This honey must be harvested and processed separately from conventional honey to avoid any cross-contamination.

Navigating the confusing world of organic farming can be a sticky job, and we're lucky to have found a reliable guide. Our source has many years of experience in the honey business and works hard to bring the best organic product to its customers.

Owned and operated by the family since 1938, their historic farm is nestled in the rolling green fields of Ohio, just a few hours away from our headquarters in Indiana. So when they invited our team out to tour the facilities, we immediately took them up on their offer. Who doesn’t love a field trip?

While it was fascinating to watch their impressive modern operations, it’s obvious that the family is just as proud of their long history in the honey business. Photos and paintings of years gone by line the walls, and we loved hearing stories from the founder's great-grandchildren.

Honey Farm then and now

We learned that the business began way back in 1915 when two brothers bought their first beehive. The original honey house was built in 1938, and within a decade the founder's son was working full-time at the farm, beginning a generational tradition that's still alive today.

For over seven decades now, the family has been running their honey farm and upholding its legacy. As a family-run business ourselves, we love partnering with a company that truly understands our values. Now every time we take a bite of our Warrior Snack Mix, we can’t help but think of those green fields and the passion and stewardship that has spanned generations
