10 Easy & Nourishing After-School Snacks Kids Love

When your kids come tumbling through the door after school, one thing is certain—they’re hungry, and they need food fast.

Finding that sweet spot between quick, delicious, and nutritious can feel like a challenge, especially on busy afternoons.

After years of feeding a kitchen full of hungry boys, I’ve learned a thing or two about what actually works. So I’m putting that experience to use and sharing some of our favorite go-to after-school snacks that fuel kids without the stress.

10 Easy After School Snacks

1. Popcorn

Popcorn isn’t just for movie night anymore! Naturally gluten-free and endlessly snackable, it’s a perfect after-school option. Air-pop your own or choose a microwave brand with simple ingredients you trust. And if you’ve never tried popcorn with a sprinkle of Tajín, you’re missing out.

2. Sliced Fruit

Simple, fresh, and always a win. I like to slice apples at the beginning of the week and store them in a little orange juice to prevent browning. Add your favorite nut butter for a boost of protein and staying power.

3. Kale Chips

Trust me on this one. Tear kale into pieces, massage with a bit of olive oil, season to taste, and bake on a parchment-lined sheet at 350°F for 10–15 minutes. Crispy, salty, and packed with nutrients—kids are often surprised how much they love them.

4. Chocolate PB Crunch Bites

This Warrior Mix Recipe is always a hit. These bites store beautifully in the fridge or freezer, making them perfect for make-ahead, grab-and-go snacking.

5. Cheese and Crackers

A little protein goes a long way after school.  We love the convenience of Babybel cheese… and did you know they now have a plant-based variety?

6. Hard Boiled Eggs

Keep a dozen ready in the fridge and watch them disappear. A sprinkle of sea salt or Trader Joe’s Everything Bagel Seasoning turns a simple egg into something crave-worthy.

7. Chips and Guac

This snack feels indulgent but delivers plenty of nutrients. I like adding a spoonful of plain Greek yogurt to the guacamole for extra creaminess and protein.

8. Seaweed Snacks

You’ll usually find these in the Asian foods aisle, and they’re a surprising favorite with kids—salty, crunchy, and fun to eat.

9. Chocolate Nut Trail Bars

This Warrior Mix recipe that hits the sweet spot. They taste like a treat but are made with wholesome, good-for-you ingredients.

10. Warrior Mix & Mini Bars

Enjoy Warrior Mix straight from the bag, with a splash of milk, or sprinkled over yogurt. Our Warrior Mixes are plant-based, gluten-free, and made with no refined sugar—making them the ultimate after-school fuel you can feel good about.

With so many delicious options (and flavors!), there’s something here for everyone in the family to love.
