10 Easy After School Snacks

10 Easy After School Snacks

When your kids tumble into the house after school, it’s best to feed them.  FAST.

But finding that magic combination of quick + delicious + nutritious can be a little tricky, right?

Luckily, my years with a kitchen full of boys have taught me a thing or two about fueling kids.  So let me put my experience to work and share some of our favorite go-to after school snacks.

10 Easy After School Snacks

1. Popcorn

It’s not just for the movies anymore, friends! Naturally gluten free and totally delicious, popcorn is the ultimate after school snack.  Air pop your own or find a microwave brand that has ingredients you trust.  And if you’ve never tried popcorn with a sprinkle of Tajin seasoning, you’re in for a treat!

2. Sliced Fruit

Always simple, always a hit.  I like to slice up several apples at the beginning of the week and store in a bit of orange juice to keep them from browning.  Add a little nut butter of your choice for an extra kick of delicious protein.

3. Kale Chips

Trust me on this one.  Try it once, and you’ll be hooked.  Massage a small amount of olive oil into torn pieces of kale, season to taste, then bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 10-15 minutes at 350.  Crispy, salty… and full of nutrients!

4. Chocolate PB Crunch Bites

I'm sure this Warrior Mix Recipe will be a new favorite at your house!  They store beautifully in the fridge or freezer, making them easy to make ahead for a grab-and-go snack.

5. Cheese and Crackers

A little bit of protein can go a long way fueling kids after school.  We love the convenience of Babybel cheese… and did you know they now have a plant-based variety?

6. Hard Boiled Eggs

Store a dozen in your fridge for the week, and they’ll be gone before you know it.  A sprinkle of salt or Trader Joe’s Everything Bagel Seasoning is all you need to take it up a notch from bland and boring to amazingly delicious!

7. Chips and Guac

This snack feels totally indulgent, but is packed full of nutrients!  I like to add a little plain Greek yogurt to our guacamole for a little creamy protein.

8. Seaweed Snacks

Look for these snack packs in the Asian aisle of your grocery store; my kids love them!

9. Chocolate Nut Trail Bars

This Warrior Mix recipe will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth. It tastes so indulgent, but is full of good-for-you ingredients!

10. Warrior Mix

Good straight out of the bag, with a dash of milk, or as a topping on your favorite yogurt, our Warrior Mixes are the ultimate after school fuel.  Plant based and gluten free with no refined sugar, it’s definitely a snack you can feel good about!
